Privacy Policy

We collect information you provide directly, and information generated by using the Service:

• Account information - name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) when you register.
• Google Sign-In - if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and whether Google has verified that email. We do not receive your Google password.
• Profile information - trade(s), years of experience, bio, business name, and a profile photo, depending on whether you register as a fundy (worker) or a contractor.
• Location - an approximate address or neighbourhood you provide, used to match nearby jobs and workers. We do not track your device's real-time GPS location in the background.
• Verification documents - if you go through identity verification, we collect the identity document(s) you upload and basic device information used to detect fraud (a "device fingerprint").
• Job and work history - jobs you post or claim, participation and completion status, and ratings/reviews left about you or by you after a completed job.
• Photos you upload - profile photos and job-site photos, stored with our cloud storage provider.
• Communications data - records of notifications sent to you (push, SMS, email) and their delivery status, so we can show you your notification history and diagnose delivery issues.
• Technical data - IP address, browser/device type, and standard web server logs, collected automatically like on most websites.

• To create and secure your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
• To match fundies with relevant jobs based on trade, location, and experience level.
• To let contractors and fundies see each other's relevant profile information when engaging on a job.
• To send job-match, claim, confirmation, reminder, and rating-request notifications.
• To verify identity and reduce fraud on the marketplace.
• To compute reputation scores (ratings, completed-job counts, experience tiers) from real, completed jobs only.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including diagnosing technical problems.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

• Other users - a fundy's trade, experience, rating, and verification status are visible to contractors evaluating a claim, and vice versa. Full contact details are shared only as needed to coordinate a claimed job.
• Service providers we use to operate Wera, each only for the purpose of providing their service to us: Beem Africa (SMS delivery), Microsoft Azure Communication Services (email delivery), Cloudflare (file/photo storage), and Google (sign-in, when you choose to use it).
• Legal reasons - if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Wera, our users, or the public.

Wera does not currently process payments between contractors and fundies - payment terms are agreed and settled directly between the parties on a job.

We retain account and job-history data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, maintain accurate reputation history, and comply with legal obligations. Verification documents are retained only as long as needed for verification and fraud prevention purposes.

• You can review and update most of your profile information directly from your dashboard.
• You can control push, SMS, and email notification preferences from your notification settings.
• You can request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
• Deleting your account does not remove job history or ratings tied to completed jobs with other users, since those records are shared with the other party to that job and support the reputation system's integrity.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted password storage, token-based authentication, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you.
